Hunting and trapping may actually lead wolves to kill more elk and deer- not less. When under heavy persecution, wolves respond by producing more pups- meaning more mouths to feed- and more food the wolf must hunt. Younger wolves, inexperienced at hunting, are more likely to take livestock.
Trapping is cruel, barbaric and uncalled for. Such inhumane methods are archaic ways to manage wildlife and should not be included in wolf management programs. Traps are a slow, torturous death, for wolves, and any other unsuspecting animal that may happen upon them.
